Child's wicker basket style handbag with flowers on top, 1950s.
Physical description
Child's wicker basket style handbag with white, pink and yellow flowers with green leaves attached to the lid. The lid of the basket bag is attached with wicker hinges. The hinges are stiff resulting in the lid being permanently open. The handle and clasp are also made from wicker.

Object history
This handbag is part of larger gift given to the Museum by Daphne Pearce who wore the clothes as a young girl growing up in the Northern suburbs of London. The clothes are all in pristine condition and were worn from the 1950s to 1960s and show a range from baby wear to pre-teen years, approximately 12. This collection typifies the clothing of the period and clothing labels and styles of the middle classes.
