Girl's wool mustard yellow pleated dress with braces in the same material. The waistband of the skirt is bowed, curving on either side and dips in the middle. The braces are fastened to the back of the skirt with one brown plastic and one white plastic button which is probably a replacement. There is also a button to fasten the skirt at the left hand side of the waistband. There is a label in the waistband which has been covered by a machine-embroidered name tag which reads A. Pearce in blue thread. The label which is obscured gives the brand name 'Colwer REGD'.
This skirt is part of larger gift given to the Museum by Daphne Pearce who wore the clothes as a young girl growing up in the Northern suburbs of London. The clothes are all in pristine condition and were worn from the 1950s to 1960s and show a range from baby wear to pre-teen years, approximately 12. This collection typifies the clothing of the period and clothing labels and styles of the middle classes.
