Highland Dress

Highland Outfit
1870s (Produced)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This traditional Scottish outfit was worn during the 1870s by H. D. Noel Paterson, growing up in Scotland. Paterson grew up to become vicar of a number of different churches, and the outfit was passed down the family. The tartan is a McAnley (now named Comyn), though it was originally thought to be a Bruce tartan. This, however, would be perplexing, as the known ancestors of the donor's family were the MacDougall clan, fierce rivals of the Bruce.
