| Gallery label | The cartouche is a copy by Heckel, the subscription plate in Gaetano Brunetti's 'Sixty Different Sorts of Ornaments'. 1736-37. On the back are six small sketches for trophies in the manner of the prints of Claude Gillot. Heckel, a famous gold-chaser, used Brunetti's ideas as inspiration for his own work on watches and boxes. |
