Poster
1967 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

"Dance Concert Eye Ball" psychedelic poster featuring a diamond shape with an eye at its centre. The names of bands, and venue information, are printed in progressively smaller diamonds within. The colours of the lettering change with each layer, so that the outermost design is ink and dark purple, then yellow and red, blue and dark purple, ad at the centre with the eye, red and yellow. The background design depicts an organic, floral pattern, printed black on green, and the whole design is framed within a bright blue border. Directly below the diamond-shaped design is the Family Dog's symbol, an elderly Native American man wearing a top hat and smoking a cigarette or joint.

The bands promoted are 'Big Brother and the Holding Co.', 'Blue Cheer', and 'The Charlatans'. The venue information fills the second and third layers of the diamond: 'March 31 Fri April 1 Sat, Avalon Ballroom', Lights - Van Meier and Hillyard, Sutter & Vanness, San Francisco'. At the centre, around the eye, is the concert's title, 'Dance Concert Eye Ball'.
