Miss Sophia Lee was a author and playwright whose best known works included The Chapter of Accidents, (a three-act opera based on Denis Diderot's Le père de famille), and which was produced at the Haymarket Theatre on 5 August 1780 and the historical romance The Recess, or a Tale of other Times (published in 1783).
