Bobby Hillson was an important figure in post-war British fashion illustration, working during the 1960s for Condè Nast publications such as Vogue, where she was a full-time illustrator, and key newspapers such as the Sunday Times and The Observer. In 1969 she founded her own childrenswear brand and in 1974 she was awarded the title 'Designer of the Year' by The Times. In the late 1970s she returned to Saint Martin's School of Art, where she had studied, to set up the MA Fashion course.
