Object history | The plate is a duplicate of that commissioned as a gift for Sir Christopher Frayling by Martin Smith, David Hamilton, David Queensberry and the staff and students of the Ceramics and Glass Department of the Royal College of Art, to celebrate his time as Rector, Professor and Tutor at the College, from 1972 to 2009. The decoration draws on imagery associated with the college, the Phoenix and the Dodo being symbols adopted by former Rector Robin Darwin to represent the new and the old College. The blank plate was produced by Wedgwood as part of the Plato range designed by Martin Hunt for Queensberry Hunt. |
