These tabi (socks), along with various other accoutrements belonging to a kimono set, were gifted to a member of the Royal Family by the Daughter of the Emperor of Japan in 1960. The tabi are an intrinsic part of a kimono set, worn together with geta (footwear) or zori (a more formal type of footwear), the socks are designed with a toe divide to fit the sandal. Made in cotton these socks would have been cool to wear and could be cleaned easily.
