Robert E. Mueller (born 1925) served in the US Navy during the Second World War, and later trained as an artist. The Iraq Triptych exploits the graphic immediacy and jagged lines of woodcut to give a scathing account of the American military campaign in Iraq since the invasion of 2003. Made over a period of four years from 2005 to 2008 the prints conceived separately are now united as a triptych.
