Place of origin |
World War II poster advertising the 'Army News Room', depicting an open news-sheet with 'good news' stories. The poster depicts a partially opened newspaper or book, which could also be seen as a building. The cover / wall is red, and has the words 'Army News Room' emblazoned on it, and at the bottom, a door through which a stylised and abstracted hand points. The hand is partly illuminated by a light shining through the door, which also casts light in the lower part of the poster. The cover / wall is open just enough so the second page, which is yellow and covered in newsprint, can be seen. Several stories covering the war can be read, with headlines like, 'Vital to Help Britain's Effort', 'Free Holidays for Children After the War', 'Three Brave Men', and 'No Night Bombs Here'. The yellow newspaper can also be seen through the word 'News' on the 'cover', which appears as if cut-out.
