Place of origin |
Monsoon is an international chain of clothing and homeware stores known for its soft feminine styles and designs which often refer to Asian sources and influences. Much of the chain’s stock is made of textiles printed in East and South East Asia. The style of clothes could be described as bohemian, with flowing fabrics, embroidery, warm colours and loose-fitting shapes. These characteristics are represented in this example of the shop’s carrier bag. The material is brown paper, which can carry connotations such as environmental friendliness and traditionalism. The Monsoon aesthetic is reinforced with the batik-style print, batik being a form of traditional Indian fabric printing.
