Object history | Peter York, writer, broadcaster and management consultant, wrote in V&A Magazine Summer 2013: This is a contemporary (2012) Chinese take on a dancing Eiffel Tower by Lu Chi. It's very catchy with its dynamic shape and green glass. Is it a sculpture - which is how the V&A describes it - or a large chimneypiece ornament? The designer, not yet 40, will have seen a lot of cartoons and computer-generated games and films, and that aesthetic is somewhere in there in the anthropomorphic suggestion of movement. I'd love it on my shelves. |
