Physical description
Costume for Kundry in Richard Wagner's opera Parsifal. Full length dress, the sleeveless bodice of gold metal tissue overlaid with mauve nylon chiffon and built onto a leotard; the low heart-shaped neckline and top shoulder filled in to form a round neck, the infill of flesh coloured double net overlaid with a lattice of lurex braid with a large pearl stud at each intersection. The lower edge of the bodice curves below the waist and is decorated with a continuous border of ovals in gold braid with pearls at each intersection. Attached to the bodice is a very full gathered skirt of bright mauve nylon chiffon, full length at the front, extending into a train at the back. Attached at the armholes and back is a huge trailing 'cloak' of bright mauve nylon chiffon with elastic loops to fit over the wrists. No label.
