Place of origin |
This is a later version of the endless landscape or myriorama, popular in the 19th century, where a series of cards could be placed in any order and still make sense. This example is slightly different in that, because it features the well-known carol the Twelve Days of Christmas, the cards can be laid in order reflecting the consecutive numbers of the song. The design is such however that the cards can also be placed in any alternate order and the landscape will still make sense even thought the numerical sequence may be mixed up.
