Liberty’s range of jewellery and silver under the name of CYMRIC was launched in 1899. Liberty’s policy of keeping both their designers and manufacturers anonymous makes positive attributions difficult. The painter and antiquary, Oliver Baker, is known to have executed a number of designs for Liberty metalwork in the early years of the CYMRIC scheme as did Rex Silver who as head of the Silver Studio supplied many designs for textiles, silver, jewellery and pewter for Liberty’s.
