Place of origin

A walnut and pine table with floral marquetry in stained bone and various other woods. It is rectangular in shape with a drawer in the frieze and is supported on four spirally turned legs. The ‘X’ shaped stretcher is veneered in walnut and has a panel of floral marquetry in its centre and is raised on ball feet.

The pine table top has a convex walnut moulding all round its outer edge, cut in small sections in oyster pattern. It is decorated with a border of herringbone veneer, which surrounds floral marquetry. In the very centre, there is an oval panel of floral marquetry within an oval band of oyster-cut walnut veneer.

The oak drawer, with pine front, is decorated with two oval panels of floral marquetry against a ground of walnut veneer. It has a small, central, pair shaped, brass drop pull handle, with a star-shaped back plate which is not original.

The sides are veneered in walnut, the grain set vertically. The legs are in solid walnut. The legs are trimmed with single bine trimmings above inverted pear-shaped balusters
