Report Form
Lists as "1 chest of drawers, inlaid with brass mountings, 2 keys (scratched & repaired)"

This appears to be one of two chests found "at a small village near Brympton by Spencer (Powrby?) Fare " who wrote to Clarke (V & A) about them (letter not on files).

Report in R.P. 53013, J H Pollen
"2 Chests of Drawers of English make; 18th century. Marquetry. The marquetry on both these pieces is in the English method of laying down sections of native ornamental woods, laburnum, arbutus and other woods only obtainable of small scantling; also maple & holly for light colours. These are from Brympton, in Somerset. They have been rubbed up, but are substantially in their old condition. £20 is below what London dealers would demand for these two pieces of furniture".
