Until it was hit by a bomb during the Second World War, Pollock's shop was the sole remaining outlet for the sale of traditional toy theatre sheets or 'penny plain and tuppence coloured'. Robert Louis Stevenson, Ellen Terry, G.K. Chesterton and Charles Dickens were amongst the many famous people who visited the shop in North London.
