Place of origin |
Muk Muk was the ‘official sidekick’ of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. He is a marmot, an endangered species native to the area where the event was held. The production and release of the Vancouver 2010 merchandise was phased, and initially Muk Muk only existed online, but he was soon produced as a plush toy.
The three official mascots were Quatchi the Sasquatch, Miga the Seabear and Sumi a Chimera. All three were designed from legends of Canadian Aborginal culture but other influences include the Olympic and Paralympic movements, modern animation styles and the culture and wildlife of British Columbia and Canada.
Meomi Design is a duo of Vicky Wong and Michael Murphy, illustrators, animators and designers who have produced books and television series for children.
