This poster is advertising the publication of a book called 'Seine Hoheit - Der Kohletrimmern' [His Highness - the Coaltrimmer] written by Johann zur Plassow and published by August Scherl in Berlin in 1917. The book decribes the voyage of the Duke of Mecklenburg, Heinrich Borwin (1885-1942), returning from the First World War.

The poster was designed by Julius Gipkens (1883-1960), a German artist who was inspired by the work of Lucian Bernhard (1883-1972). During the First World War Gipkens produced several notable posters for the German government.
