This fashion illustration by Hiroshi Tanabe depicts a woman wearing a pleated collar which was designed by Issey Miyake in 1982. Tanabe drew the collar using black pen on paper before photocopying the image onto the final paper and applying silver leaf. He then drew in areas of the collar and the female face using black pen and pencil.
Tanabe, who was born in Kanagawa, Japan, is inspired by traditional Japanese woodcuts. He has produced fashion illustrations for a wide range of newspapers and magazines including The New York Times Magazine, British Vogue and Vogue Paris, and Harper's Bazaar.
