Micro Machines Super City Toolbox Action Playset

Playset
1988 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This Micro Machines playset was manufactured by Galoob and was issued in the second year of production of MicroMachines. A tenth of the size of a Matchbox car (previously the biggest selling toy car), they were detailed models of full size cars at 1:152 scale. This toolbox was one of a continuing series of sets that resembled an object relating to driving when closed, and when unfolded became a city playset. As well as this toolbox there was a van, petrol can, car battery and car wax sets. Galoob also made licenced sets based on properties such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and even Aliens, with the playsets resembling scenes from the film, transforming from character heads or larger vehicles. When Galoob was acquired by Hasbro in 1999, the design and manufacture of Micro Machines became less detailed and realistic and were aimed at a lower age range. Today the brand only appears as special edition licenced sets.
