Poster advertising Chung Ling Soo, 'The World's Greatest Chinese Magician', ca.1905.

Chung Ling Soo was the stage name of William E. Robinson (1861-1918). He became a famous conjurer in London and in the USA in the early 20th century. He was fatally shot on stage in London on 23rd March 1918 while performing the Bullet Catching Trick. He was taken to hospital but died the following morning.
