Physical description
This painting shows a woman seated in a sari, churning a pot of milk. The woman's sari is white with blue stripes and a black border. Her head is partially covered by the draped garment and she is dressed in the manner of a rural woman. The artist has used white paint to emphasise jewellery and personal adornments on her arms and feet, echoing the use of tin alloy by 19th century patuas for the same purpose.
