Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This construction set was created by the Tupperware company, an organisation more famous for their airtight food storage containers. The Tupperware sales market was based on sales parties, held by women and directed at other women. Developed in the 1950s, this strategy was aimed primarily at housewives and thus branching into a range of toys to be sold at these parties was an obvious development. The hygienic aspect of the toys was one of the main features promoted, as this was one of the features of Tupperware's kitchenware, an association with keeping food fresh. This particular toy was a construction set made of parts in four different styles that could be linked to produce many different vehicles and play sets: examples on the leaflet include trucks, furniture and even a movie camera.
