Gallery label | The object depicted was sold to a museum as an ancient sculpture but is actually a 21st-century forgery. The photograph itself also masquerades as an historic artefact. Labelled as a mid 19th-century work, it is in fact a new print made using one of the earliest photographic processes. This complex exploration of authorship and authenticity was inspired by the 2010 V&A display, The Metropolitan Police Service's Investigation of Fakes and Forgeries.(11/08/2011-27/11/2011) |
