Actress, writer and drama teacher Sybil Ward was born in England in the late 19th century. She appeared in many of Shakespeare's plays with touring theatre companies and became famous for her one-person interpretations of Shakespeare. She had 21 of the plays in her repertoire and acted them in costume, making quick changes in front of the audience. She was also able to give trilingual performances - in English, French and German.
Sybil Ward became an American citizen in 1940, and devoted herself to the Fight for Freedom movement.
