These golden python sandals are from the Emirati designer Sultan Al Darmaki's first collection of women's shoes, A/W 2011-12. The shoes, "Lydia", were inspired by the gold metallic burqa, which veils the woman's face in certain parts of the Middle East.

Pair of high-heeled sandals, "Lydia", by Darmaki 2011, United Arab Emirates.
Physical description
One pair of high-heeled sandals with ankle cuff and tabs, golden python leather with cream suede and citrine coloured stones, called "Lydia". Zipper down the side, with dragon fly logo incised on the pull. Ankle cuff fully lined with soft brown leather. Brown leather insole, with Darmaki's logo, half-D, and dragon fly. Black sole with Darmaki logo and golden line down the inside of the heel.

These shoes are from the Emirati shoe designer Sultan Al-Darmaki's first collection of women's shoes Autumn / Winter 2011-2012. It was launched in January 2011, and shown at Paris Fashion Week in March 2011.

On display in the V&A exhibition, Shoes: Pleasure and Pain between 13 June 2015 – 31 January 2016.
