Beach-Head

Computer Game
1984 (released)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This game was published by U.S. Gold, a British programming firm who had big hits in the 1980s and 90s, reprogramming games from popular American systems such as the Atari and Commodore, to be played on European formats such as the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. Beach-Head involved a naval battle following by a land invasion, and capturing the enemy fortress. The cassette-based software took several minutes to load, unlike the near instantaneous cartridge or today's optical discs, which meant a long wait in anticipation before being able to play.
