Tom Eckersley (1914-1977) was an artist and poster designer who produced work for Austin Reed, Shell, London Transport, the Post Office, the Ministry of Food, Radio Times, Gillette, Guinness, ROSPA and British Railways. From c. 1956-1976 he was head of the department of design at the London College of Printing. This design promoting British Rail journeys to Lincolnshire is bold and eye-catching, and plays on the county’s character as flat farming land.
