Whitbread Anglo-American Theatre Award 1965-1966, presented to the designer Michael Annals for his set designs for Peter Shaffer's play, The Royal Hunt of the Sun.
The Royal Hunt of the Sun was premiered in London by the National Theatre Company. It was the first new play to be presented by the company, opening to great acclaim at the Old Vic in 1964, directed by John Dexter and designed by Michael Annals. In 1965 Dexter re-staged the play for the ANTA Theatre, New York, using the same production team.
