Object history | Given by Robert Almström, Rörstrand's technical director. Historical significance: The donor, Robert Almström, was Rörstrand's technical director, and so this piece may be seen as one of which the factory was particularly proud. |
Historical context | Decoration in white enamel on a dark blue ground emulated, in a modified and much simplified manner, Limoges enamels of the 1500s. It had been a popular standard with porcelain factories such as Sèvres, Worcester and Minton since the mid 1850s. |
