This chair (also known as Table-chair 2 chair) was designed and made about 1993 by Richard Hutten. The chair is constructed out of white-painted MDF and wood. It has six legs - two back legs, two legs connected to the stool-like seat and two front legs uniting the seat to the overall chair.
Richard Hutten (1967 Zwollerkerspel) graduated from the Academy Industrial Design Eindhoven in 1991. That same year he started his own design studio. He worked on furniture, product, interior and exhibition designs and developed his 'No sign of design' and 'Table upon table' concepts (W.21- 2009). He is one of the most successful contemporary Dutch designers and a key exponent of Droog, a design company he has been affiliated with since its inception in 1993.

Object history | This object is a rare version of the Table-chair in which the seat is attached to the arm and back unit and the chair has six legs. Hutten only made two or three versions of this model in about 1993 (two years after the original Table-chair). The original Table-chair and the Table-upon-table bar stool were both in the first collection of Droog Design in 1993 which launched Richard Hutten's international career. |
