This poster promotes three exhibitions of photographs and papers documenting the 'Velvet Revolution' in Czechoslovakia. The photograph on the poster shows the plinth of Prague's Stalin Monument covered over with painted fabric by the senior students of the School of Art and Design. This was a tangible symbol of of the leading role that Prague's university students played in the Velvet Revolution. Their demonstration on the 17th of November 1989 had challenged the authorities, and it was their strike in response to the police violence that initiated the events which culminated in the overthrow of the communist regime.
