Belt flap of embroidered silk satin for a civil Mandarin of the ninth rank. The belt flap is in the form of a purse drawn up at the top with mauve drawstrings. It has one pale green and one blue side. The embroidery shows flowers and insects in coloured silks in pekinese stitch. From the drawstrings hang four yellow silk tassels bound at the top with silver-gilt thread.
The flap hangs from a white satin belt with a gilt buckle representing a Chinese character.

Object history | Part of an ensemble T.40 to J-1956 for a Mandarin of the ninth rank. A ninth rank Mandarin is an unplaced official. This belt flap is identical to T.40G-1956, except for some colours in the embroidery. |
