Cannonball

Board Game
1959 (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This board game was based on the popular televisions series, Cannonball, which was produced in Canada 1958, starring two American actors. The story followed the adventures of two characters as they drove trucks across the USA and Canada. The game involves collecting pegs from a loading bay, travelling around the board according to numbers on a spinner, and delivering the pegs to an unloading bay. The story of the game is that a town in the valleys has been cut off by floods, and Cannonball has to deliver a load of goods there. It is simple in design, and cheaply made, almost entirely from cardboard. The game represents an early adaptation of a television drama into board game format.
