This appears to be a preliminary sketch for the set for Nocturne which Fedorovitch appears to have redrawn on a number of occasions. It shows the columns bill posted with announcements ‘Un bal’ but not the balustrade liking them beyond which the backcloth opened up a night sky evoked to Paris of the late C19th..
