The Shuttle is superimposed over the front page from a newspaper, the 'New York Times', dated Sunday, May 22, 1927, printed in black on grey. The newspaper reports Lindbergh's first cross-Atlantic flight, under the headline, 'LINDBERGH DOES IT! TO PARIS IN 33 1/2 [HOURS;] / FLIES 1000 MILES THROUGH [SNOW AND SLEET;] / CHEERING [FRENCH CARRY HIM OFF FIELD] (words in square brackets are obscured). Towards the top of the poster, across the headline is a red banner with white letters proclaiming, 'IN A GREAT TRADITION . . . / MARCH 1981'.
