Object history | Bury, Bury, Miller, Nockells & Lloyd partnership (1800-1813); Burys & Co, Pendle Hill; Bury, Miller & Co, Manchester; and Miller, Bury & Co, London. Annual stocktaking lists 1802 to 1 January 1812. The partnership form of company required annual valuations to establish the net worth of the business in case of the withdrawal of a partner, or a dispute. The Bury partnerships used pattern sheets to aid in the tallying of stock in the Manchester and London warehouses. Many of these are dated 31 December or 1 January, and reflect stock built up during the previous year. Thus, lists made on the 1 January are given the year date of the year just passed. |
