This book of poetry was written by the McCorkell children as a Christmas present for their father in 1927.

Oona (b.1910), Kathleen (b.1911), Leslie (b.1916) and Pakenham (b.1923) were the four children of Dudley and Helen McCorkell. They lived in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The children wrote poems which were put into books and presented to their father as Christmas and Easter presents. The daughters lived into their nineties, but Pakenham died in 1944.

The poems in this book are credited to Oona, Kathleen and Leslie McCorkell. The poems included in the book are entitled 'Prince Arthur', 'Jim-Jack-Jimmy', 'Village Gossip', 'The Moon and the Nightingale', 'Cricket', 'The Fortune Teller', 'The Old Man of Derry', 'Snow', 'The Baby Bear', 'The Old man of Kent', 'The Dog's Complaint', 'Maria and the Tongs', 'The Call', 'When the Reaper Squeaks', 'Xmas', 'The Film Stars', and 'The Mill'.
