Object history
The electrotype is catalogued in the register as:
"ELECTROTYPE. CARTOUCHE [sic] BOX. Embossed and pierced chasing of the Judgment (sic) of Paris, and strap-work ornament. The original, of bronze-gilt, from the Bernal collection, is in the South Kensington Museum, No. 2201-1855. Italian (sic). 16th centy. H: 5 1/8 in., L. 3 in., W. 2 in. Bought of Messrs Elkington asnd Co., 3l. 10s."

Historical significance: This electrotype is a good example of the copying of the ornament as opposed to the craftsmanship. The inside is very granular in contrast to the fine detail of the exterior.
