An example of so-called 'red carpet dressing' is actress Annette Bening's choice of Stella McCartney to wear to the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in January 2011. Because the red carpet's paparazzi-lined path leaves little room for misjudgement, today's celebrities dress with particular care. While Bening's selection is quiet, it is not entirely conventional. Although this appears to be a full length gown, it ism in fact, a jumpsuit. The extremely wide trouser legs feature pockets, a thoughtful and practical addition. The bodice's delicate floral embroidery softens this somewhat sombre design.
