Historical context
This poster subverts a well known Irish Tourist Board poster 'Doors of Dublin' which featured a grid of picturesque, brightly painted 18th century doorways. 'Doors of Belfast' was created as part of a photographic project by Peter McGuinness in collaboration with Art & Research Exchange and the Poverty Lobby of Northern Ireland. As well as being exhibited, the piece was issued as a poster, to achieve greater coverage and it was sold to raise funds for the Poverty Lobby.
