Ian Dury and the Blockheads began performing under that name in the winter of 1977. They were successful in the UK and a number of other countries and had many top ten singles, one of their most famous being 'Sex & Drugs & Rock and Roll'. From the winter of 1977 Ian Dury and the band begun performing as Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
This poster has a white background with black typography and black and white photos dispersed among the text. The poster displays lyrics from the Ian Dury and the Blockheads song 'Reasons to be Cheerful, Part Three'; the lyrics are broken up by pictures replacing certain lyrics, the answers appear at the bottom of the poster. The poster was designed by Peter Blake, who Ian Dury studied under at the Royal College of Art from 1964. Peter Blake is a Pop Artist most famous for his design of the Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' album sleeve.
