Vase
c.1912-26 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
The copper body has an applied silver rim, a silver-gilt inner neck and a silver base plate. The semi-matt pale aubergine ground has been decorated in silver yusen with a trailing and flowering legume in shades of green and white enamels in low moriage. Areas of the flowers, bean-pods, leaves and stems are delicately raised above the surface of the vase to create an elegant, naturalistic and almost three-dimensional composition. The counter-enamel is of the typical dark matt brown associated with the Ando Company. This is also used on the base, where the mark of the Ando Company has been applied in silver yusen and filled with white enamel.
