Place of origin |
At the end of World War II men, like women, were still required to dress according to a sartorial code. For formal gatherings this consisted of a ‘white-tie’ dinner suit. Made of black wool and usually double breasted the classic dinner suit could be worn from season to season and from year to year. This suit was made by Daks-Simpson Ltd in 1955. The House of Simpson was established in the late 19th century by Simeon Simpson, specialising in quality tailoring. Using British fabrics, the company expanded through the early 20th century, following the founder’s philosophy of ‘comfort in action’.
