Object history | Bought in a lot of six panels for £3 9 shillings and 7 pence (3709-1856 to 3714-1856). A wall hanging of this identical pattern is hanging in the dining room of Muncaster castle (Cumbria), and a can also be found on a four-folded screen in the Deutsches Ledermuseum, Offenbach am Main (Germ.). Formerly in the Animal Products Division. Transferred 01/09/1965 from Bethnal Green Department to the Woodwork Department (RP 65/2340) This design of stamped leather, in a different colourway, is illustrated in Jean-Pierre Fournet, Cuirs Dorées, "Cuirs de Courdoue", un art Européen (Château de Saint-Remy-en-l'Eau: Editions Monelle Hayot, 2019), pp. 294-295. |
