WARP: white wool; Z2S; 12 threads per inch (52 per dm).

WEFT: white wool; Z3S; 1 shoot after each row of knots; 8 knots per inch (33 per dm)

PILE: wool; 8 colours: red, yellow, light yellow (faded), green, blue, dark brown, brown, white; symmetrical knot tied around two threads; 48 knots per sq. inch (858 per sq. dm).

SIDE FINISH: 2 cords overcast with white wool and with the lowest 5 cms. overcast with red wool.

END FINISH: Lower: the red wool used for the side finish forms one row of soumak. Below this are 2 rows of countered soumak with dark red and red wool. Evidence of a fringe max. 12 cms. with at least 3 rows of off-set knotting. Upper: 6 rows of countered soumak with white wool; evidence of a fringe max. 9.5 cms with at least 3 rows of off-set knotting.

DESIGN: Field: yellow ground with a lattice of brown lines creating octagonal compartments linked by brown rectangles containing white or light yellow S-motifs, or blue S-motifs or 4 rows of octagons, 2 containing stylised flowers and 2 containing geometric motifs.

Main border: white ground with the wine glass and leaf pattern. In the upper half of the side borders the stem of the 'wineglass' has a pair of coloured leaves.

Inner and outer borders: brown or dark brown ground (varies) with groups of 4 coloured flowerheads. Towards the lower right hand corner these are sometimes linked by vertical lines.
