Historical context | Dinky Toys had been a trademark of Meccano Ltd, Liverpool. Meccano was bought by Airfix Products Ltd in 1971 when the Lines Brothers group was sold. In 1979, Airfix sold the Liverpool factories producing both Meccano and Dinky due to financial problems. Airfix itself went into receivership late 1981. |
